Empire Protection was founded to be an elite provider of security, protection and safety services. Ten years on, that is still the whole brief.

The company

Empire Protection has been protecting and advising some of the world’s highest profile identities for over a decade, and has never lost a client.

The order things were done in matters. Policies and procedures were built before operations commenced, so the company would work safely, compliantly and efficiently from the first task rather than assembling governance after an incident forced it. Those practices are still reviewed against current best practice rather than left to age, which is the same discipline the compliance side of the business now sells to other people.

The people came from Military Special Forces, tactical law enforcement, risk management, emergency management and global protection operations. That mix is the reason the company can hold both halves of its own name: the consulting that decides what protection is warranted, and the protective operation itself.

Leadership

Surnames appear for the officers who carry the company externally. Everyone else is a first name and a role, the same convention Empire has always used, and the right one for people who do protective work.

One group, four companies

Empire Protection is the name on the door. Behind it are registered companies in four countries, and you contract with one of them. Every one of them trades as Empire Protection. Which entity holds a given engagement follows from where the work is and who is paying for it, and it is named in the contract rather than left to be inferred.

A registered company in a country is not a security licence in that country. The licences Empire Protection holds are listed further down this page, with their numbers, so the two claims can be checked separately.

What one provider actually means

Most security firms cover one region and hand you to somebody else at the border. The handover is where the work fails: a venue nobody advanced, an operator licensed for the wrong jurisdiction, a certificate that names the wrong entity, a plan that stops at the airport.

Empire Protection holds the engagement across the whole of it. One contract, one point of accountability, one standard of documentation, and correctly licensed delivery in each market, because licensing is per jurisdiction everywhere, and pretending otherwise is how providers end up working unlicensed.

That is the same reason the group exists in four countries rather than one with a list of partners: the entity that signs is the entity that is accountable.

Ryan Tindall

Ryan’s extensive background in the Australian Army Special Forces and his diverse experience in subsequent roles make him a valuable asset to the Commando Welfare Trust.

Ryan served 13 years in the Special Forces where his time included five special operations task force deployments in Afghanistan, four deployments on personal security detachments and three counter-terrorism operations.

Highlights (among many) include participating in an offensive in East Shah Wali Kot, where he contributed to his unit being awarded Battle Honors of East Shah Wali Kot.

During his military career, Ryan served as a Non-Commissioned Officer and played a crucial role as a military instructor at the Special Forces Training School. Ryan served with pride in the 2nd Commando Regiment and additionally as the Deputy President of the Unit Trust; supporting the underlying culture of the Regiment. His intimate knowledge of the rank and file makes him well-equipped to understand all ranks and roles of Special Operations.

In his current position as Owner, Chief Operating Officer and Chief of Operations at Empire Protection, Ryan brings operational excellence to this specialised security management business; particularly in the Defence Industry and Personal Protection portfolios.

Ryan’s passion for community service is also commendable; visible through his volunteer work with the NSW Surf Life Saving Club, where he serves as a Senior Instructor, Patrol Vice Captain, and Duty Officer.

Ryan’s outstanding work was validated when he was recognised as Duty Officer of the Year, stemming in part from his leadership in a significant surf rescue operation during the 2019 state flood emergency. His actions in this event highlight his exceptional capabilities in high-pressure situations.

As a Trustee for the Return Services League (RSL), Ryan continues to contribute to the welfare and support of fellow commandos and veterans. His dedication to raising awareness of the sacrifices made by his commando brothers, and serving the community is evident in his multifaceted and ongoing roles and achievements.
